Aston Martin topped the timesheets to head practice at the Nürburgring on Friday. The works team's car of Jan Charouz, Tomas Enge and Stefan Mücke led the way from Strakka Racing's Danny Watts and Nick Leventis as Kolles combination Karthikeyan, Meyrick and Zwolsman completed the top three.
With the sun coming out in Germany, the No. 007 Aston headed proceedings with a best effort of 1.43.514; the leading time was over a second quicker than the No.23 Strakka Ginetta Zytek as Kolles' entry was the first Audi car in third spot.
The second works Aston entry of Harold Primat and Britain's Darren Turner completed the top five, just behind the No.16 Pescarolo entry, as the Tommy Erdos and Mike Newton's RML Lola Mazda completed the top ten as the leading LMP2 class car.
