Pescarolo controls Silverstone Friday

Pescarolo topped both practice sessions at Silverstone on Friday as the final weekend of the 2009 Le Mans Series began. The car of Jean-Christophe Boullion, former Formula One and British Touring Car racer, led the way with the leading Aston Martin in sixth.

With the Silverstone 1000km due to bring the curtain down on this year's campaign, Bouillon and Tinseau's Pescarolo led the way from the Audi of Albers and Bakkerud by only three tenths of a second. The gap back to third place and the Ginetta-Zytek of Leventis and Watts was a further two tenths with team-mates Olivier Panis and Nicholas Lapierre almost a second adrift.

Tommy Erdos and Mike Newton led the way in the LMP2 class, with 12th overall for Lola-Mazda, although the championship-leading combination of Charouz, Mücke and Tomas Enge wound up ninth.
